Sonnets. If you know me and my poetry well, you know that the title of this journal is exactly what happens to me when I even so much as hear the word sonnet. Fourteen lines of rhyming iambic pentameter (well one form of a sonnet at least.) makes me want to erm... do something not so pleasant, like perhaps cracking my back in two. (By the way thread title comes from a song called Yo Ho by Heather Alexander that I have now permanently stuck in my head, no thanks to a certain friend. *grin* Don't get me wrong, it's a great song, but if the words "What do you do with a drunken sailor" get as stuck in your head as they do mine, then perhaps you should be careful when listening to this song.) Anyway, back to the point. A friend of mine challenged me to participate in a little poetry game involving limericks, to which I promptly replied, "I'd rather write a thousand sonnets than write a limerick. Sorry."

SO.... Here begins that journey. (You heard that phrase, a journey of a thousand miles begins with a simple step? That's what I am doing, 'cept replace miles with sonnets, and step with word.) From here on out, I will try to write 1000 sonnets. Please cheer me on in my journey, because as I mentioned, writing sonnets makes me wanna crack my back in two, so I'll need all the help I can get. This is one project that I shall start AND finish, if it kills me. (Which if I really do crack my back in two, that may very well be the result.) So.... Here we go. May the journey of 1000 sonnets commence.
